Ludacris speaks to naysayers

This weekend’s Ludacris concert proved to have a low turnout of protestors and large amount of energy.
Ludacris addressed students and the protestors in a press conference prior to the concert. Most questions were geared towards the protestors but questions ranged anywhere from upcoming movie projects to the importance of protestors to rap music. The rapper also spent some time talking about his nonprofit organization, The Ludacris Foundation, which is geared towards helping underprivileged kids. He wanted the protestors to know that he does not try to demean women and that he’s not trying to send that message across in his music.

Causing confusion.... disturbing the peace?

Students at Cal State Long Beach are organizing a protest before and during the Associated Students, Inc.-sponsored Ludacris concert on Saturday to demonstrate against the rapper they believe has offensive lyrics

"His lyrics are misogynistic, racist, homophobic, they glamorize capitalism and overconsumption, and promote violence against women," said Marina Wood, a junior women's studies major and organizer of the protest.

Student Government Intro

My name is Frances Vega and I am a student at Cal State Long Beach.  Throughout the next twelve weeks I will be bringing CSULB students all the news involving ASI and student government.  With a campus as big as this one it's hard for people to know what's going on and who's making all the decisions, and at a commuter school such as this one some people just don't care.  But if everyone knew all the interesting and sometimes scandalous things that went on behind the scenes, maybe they'd be more involved.  That's why I plan on putting the information out there for those who want it. I will go to senate meetings, talk to administrators and students involved with government, and I will go to events.  There will be pictures, audio clips, surveys, links and much more to keep you updated on what's going on.  Maybe you'll come back... maybe you won't, but the information will definitely be here.  Enjoy.
