Students and Faculty Protest Budget Cuts for the CSU's

Hundreds of students and faculty gathered in front of the Cal State Long Beach University Bookstore Wednesday to protest Gov. Schwarzenegger's proposed budget cuts to the California State University system.

CSULB President F. King Alexander acted as the master of ceremonies for the event. He started by urging students and faculty to sign the CSU Alliance petition, volunteer, write letters to local newspapers and send messages to state senators and assembly members. He said that the upcoming budget decisions will affect everyone in the state of California.

Long Beach Student as Supervisor?



Cal State Long Beach student decides to run for LA county supervisor.

Twenty-one year old art in education major Marylou Cabral, made the decision to run on behalf of her political party. Cabral and several other members of the socialist party are running for several offices in this year's elections. They hope running will bring more attention to their party and help clear up misconceptions of what it means to be a communist.

Cabral, who grew up in Cypress, says she's seen the struggle between the working class and the elite first hand.

Meet the Industries Expo exposes students to the business world

More than 300 Cal State Long Beach students attended this year's Meet the Industries Expo at the Queen Mary in downtown Long Beach Friday.

This year was the 36th annual Meet the Industries Expo, put on by the Associated Business Students Organization Council. The event was advertised to business students, but all students were welcomed to attend.
